Read: 2281

On June 23rd, 2020, Beyond the Summit, a tournament organizer and casting studio for competitive gaming events, announced that the PlusOne Dota 2 team has been removed from their ongoing BTS Pro Series competition due to match-fixing allegations. The organization also susped three of its players indefinitely from participating in future BTS events.

The investigation into the PlusOne team's activities revealed that they in multiple instances of match-fixing, leading to a series of penalties including disqualification from the current tournament and subsequent bans from further BTS competitions. All results associated with this team up until this point have been invalidated.

Out of the team, only three players - xuan, Ched, and Jano - received lifetime bans from Beyond the Summit. Their teammates dnm and Wij are still eligible to compete in future events organized by Beyond the Summit.

This is not the first time Beyond the Summit has dealt with match-fixing allegations within Dota 2; earlier this year, Chinese team Newbee faced a similar ban after they were found guilty of match-fixing activities.

Despite this development, the BTS Pro Series event continues without disruption. The group stages are nearing completion and will be finalized soon. Business Associates currently top the leaderboard in the upper bracket category alongside Evil Geniuses, Quincy Crew, and Thunder Predator. The tournament finals are scheduled for June 29th with a total prize pool of $50,000.
