G2 Esports has made a significant stride by entering the world of Dota 2 through a strategic partnership with Invictus Gaming. This move marks G2's first foray into the popular competitive game genre.

The collaboration sees G2 aligning with Invictus Gaming, a prestigious Chinese organization renowned for its Dota 2 prowess notably having clinched The International title in 2019 and mntning strong footing within China's robust gaming ecosystem. As such, the new team will be known as G2.iG, which will make its competitive debut at the ESL One Kuala Lumpur tournament scheduled next week, offering a substantial $1 million prize pool.

For G2 Esports, this partnership represents not only an expansion into lucrative Chinese markets where it has previously struggled but also forays into Dota 2 a scene notoriously challenging to monetize without securing top-tier talent. The partnership with Invictus Gaming allows G2 to harness one of the world's best Dota teams and strengthen its foothold in China, home to millions of fervent fans.

Alban Dechelotte, G2 Esports' CEO, highlighted this as a prolific moment for the organization, stating that partnering with Invictus Gaming known for their World Championship trophy and Aegis enables them to build a world-class team under the G2 banner while also expanding their presence into China.

“China has been one of our key markets of focus,” sd Dechelotte. By collaborating with iG, we’re not only entering Dota 2 but also leveraging their unparalleled experience in the Chinese market and esports scene. This partnership marks a significant milestone for G2 as we continue to grow globally and diversify across various esport disciplines.

As part of this strategic expansion into Dota 2, G2 has also taken over the operations for Minnesota R?kkr’s Call of Duty team from Version1 earlier in the week. With these two new teams under their wing, G2 is further cementing its position as a major player across multiple top-tier esports games with an expansive portfolio now covering nine leading titles following a rapid expansion trajectory.
