ESL Gaming Unveils ESL One Stockholm, the First Dota 2 Major with Live Audience in Over Two Years
Featuring a $500,000 prize pool and featuring 18 top Dota 2 teams, this tournament will conclude at the iconic Hovet arena in Stockholm, Sweden.
The esports world is in for an exciting event as ESL Gaming announces its upcoming Dota 2 Major - ESL One Stockholm powered by Intel? which kicks off on May 12th and wraps up on May 22nd. The tournament marks a pivotal moment in esports history as the first Dota 2 Major since early 2020 to host live fans.
ESL One Stockholm concludes the Spring Tour of Dota Pro Circuit DPC Season 2021-2022, following its predecessor that took place earlier this year as six regional finals events were produced online across the globe.
The tournament will see the world's best Dota 2 teams competing in Division I brackets from each region for a share of the $500,000 total prize pool and valuable DPC points leading up to TI11, an elite event that qualifies top-performing teams.
A 18-team lineup is expected with two to four slots allocated per region China, Eastern Europe, North America, South America, Southeast Asia, Western Europe. The competition will start off in a studio environment featuring a best-of-2 round-robin format for the group stage where teams are split into two groups of nine.
The top six from each group then progress to the double elimination playoff stage held live at Stockholm's historic Hovet arena, making it an unforgettable experience for Dota 2 fans as they witness the pinnacle of professional gaming.
